exit planning

Exiting is a crucial function in the venture capital process. Edison has completed 16 IPOs and 85 company sales.

Edison guides the exit planning process for our portfolio companies. We work closely with CEO, CFO, Founders, Directors and major shareholders to set long term targets. Every six months we revise exit projections.

Edison communicates with investment bankers, M&A specialists and analysts to follow trends in valuation and terms for information technology sectors. Edison also cultivates interest by corporate development groups and large private equity firms. Frequently, several companies are in discussion with prospective acquirors or underwriters. We also encourage strategic partnerships for development, marketing and distribution.

Edison anticipates a 3 - 9year holding period. A typical goal calls for growing from $5+ million revenue at initial investment to $25 - 100 million revenue at exit.

Our companies engage investment bankers and brokers who are experts in their industry. We also refer accounting and legal specialists with substantial M&A advisory and transaction experience.

Edison rarely sells our shareholdings separately. When management and other shareholders are not ready to sell, we will consider an offer from another investor.

M&A inquiries may be directed to Ross Martinson, our Exit Leader, or Edison BOD members of individual companies. We encourage discussion about multiple companies in Pharma, Financial Services and other Edison Industry Specialties.

Edison holds all M&A discussions in strict confidence. Any financial, sales, technology or other confidential information will be released only under a Non-Disclosure Agreement with the individual company.
